playing dress up.

a couple of halloween ideas i'm throwing around:

1. barbie. i think this is an official go because i have an amazing pink, sparkly dress. i'm working on getting a blond wig and some barbie jewelry.

2. miley cyrus. again, involving a wig (can you tell that i really want to wear a wig this year?) with sunglasses, a hannah montana shirt, some shorts and boots. simple.

3. SCRABBLE. i really want to do this. if i'm crafty enough on saturday to make the costume, then i'll do it, otherwise this one's nearly impossible to do.

any ideas are so very welcome.

slow. down.

(ashley doesn't have a mac so her computer doesn't refresh the blog hit numbers fast enough. haha!)

hit and miss.

so check this out.

brett and i are sitting on the green couch in my living room looking at my new blog hit counter at the bottom of my blog. we keep refreshing my blog on our computers just to see the number go up at the bottom. it's really exciting!

twenty refresh clicks later, we're DONE CLICKING (brett, stop). now the experiment begins. i've been wanting to put this little guy on my blog for a long time because i want to see how many people read my blog.

i'm:
a. scared that no one reads my blog.
b. even more scared to find out that a lot of people read my blog.

we'll see where this little experiment takes me.

it's sunday. the beginning of a new week.
let's be productive!!

(ashley and kat, NO MORE REFRESH BUTTON!!!)

i <3 mac lab.

it's 7:49 a.m. and i'm the only one in the mac lab in the library. i love it. i feel like no one else is alive like me and being productive. i guess i'm not being very productive, seeing as i am blogging... but whatever. you get the point.

two midterms down. 5 weeks down. seven articles down.

SEVERAL more midterms to take. 6 more weeks to go. a billion more articles to write.

hanging in there.

p.s. cross your fingers that pagey gets into her asian deaf jesus program. YOU GOT IT, SISTAH!

homesick.

i went home this weekend.

i didn't realize how homesick i was until i got here and remembered how much i love being at home. i love how excited pudge gets when she sees me and how there are golf balls EVERYWHERE in the living room from my dad practicing his putting. i love being silly with page. it would've been nice to see lauren too, but she couldn't make it. i even got to see uncle george this weekend! such a treat.

this is a little drawing of the house my mom and dad lived in when they first got married in louisiana. it's in my dad's room along with a whole bunch of pictures of my mom and us girls. there are things in my house that i forget about until i come home after not being here for a long time. there's another little wood carving of this house and it has a banner across the porch that says, "welcome, y'all." so adorable.

i miss home. i wish i weren't four and a half hours away. i want to be able to pop in and say hi whenever i want to my dad and page and lauren. i'm excited that thanksgiving is right around the corner. i know a lot of families consider christmas their big family holiday, but we do it real big for thanksgiving. this year's going to be a good year for "hanks"giving. i can tell.

home is where the heart is. and my heart belongs to my dad and the schiller girls.

cold, early mornings.

reasons i enjoy getting up at five in the morning:

1. it's kinda chilly. i like cold mornings.
2. it's really, really quiet.
3. i work really well in the mornings.
4. if i go outside on our deck, i can see the sun come up over the mountains. pretty amazing.

i'm looking forward to a long, productive week this week. PLEASE let this be a productive week.

everyone must breathe until their dying breath.

tonight, abe peck came to speak with a couple of our magazine club groupies about breaking into the magazine business. at first there were four of us sitting around eating cookes and chatting with abe about freelance travel writing and the future of magazines. abe started telling us about his experience getting his music editor position at rolling stone magazine. throughout his talk, more and more people started trickling in. we must've had about 20 people show up (VICTORY!) to listen to abe speak. basically it was a huge success in my book. i talked to abe after the meeting and he's going to help me try to get into this internship program in new york this summer. cross your fingers and pray that i get in because i've been dreaming about this internship for over a year.

other exciting things in my life:

- more mustang daily articles: photo exhibit and dj spinoff
- i played soccer tonight. i did a whole lot of running and not a lot of kicking the ball. it was still really fun.
- i've been getting some really nice text messages.
- i am not dead-dog tired. yet.

enjoy the weekend. i know i'm going to. =)
